Located on 200 acres of rolling hills above Petaluma, CA, the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) is a nonprofit organization sponsoring research, workshops and retreats about the potential of human consciousness, mind, and spirit. The outdoor space functions as stage, dining room, congregation spaces that transition elegantly with the surrounding native landscape.

Incorporating tenets of environmentalism and regionalism, the project uses sustainable construction materials such as fly-ash concrete, local aggregate, and poured earth. Native plants and grasses transition seamlessly to adjoining grasslands.
